02 Case Study

Initially developed over 50 years ago, The Village is a 17–community apartment complex in Dallas, Texas. Covering approximately 307 acres and comprised of 517 buildings totaling over 5.8 million square feet, over 10,000 Dallas residents call The Village home. LORD Green has been working with The Village to facilitate their sustainability program since 2011.

Project highlights include the following:

The Village upgraded interior and exterior common area lighting to LEDs, resulting in an annual energy savings of approximately 400,000 kWh.

The Village purchases 100% wind energy.

Together, lighting upgrades and renewable energy purchases reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions by 30,406 Metric Tons CO2 annually. That is equivalent to the CO2 emissions produced from the electricity usage of 5,302 homes for a year.

The Village replaced existing toilets and faucets with high efficiency fixtures, resulting in a total savings of over 130 million gallons. That is equivalent to the amount of water required to fill 210 Olympic size swimming pools.

The Village has implemented a comprehensive recycling program that includes consumables, lamps, and batteries.
